First — A Word to Anyone in Danger
If you are not safe at home, you are welcome here. You do not need to have a plan. You do not need to be ready. You only need to reach out.
We have walked alongside women in some of the most frightening moments of their lives. We know that leaving is not simple, and that the wrong kind of help — offered carelessly or too loudly — can make things worse before they get better. We do not do this carelessly.
Everything you share with us stays with us. We do not act without your knowledge and consent. We do not contact anyone on your behalf without your direction. We listen first, and we follow your lead from the first conversation to the last.
What we can offer is real: a furnished home waiting on the other side, clothing and essentials, connection to people who know how to help without causing harm, and a community that will not treat you as a case file.
If today is the day you need to talk to someone — even just to know your options — call or email us. We will answer, and we will be careful with what you trust us with.
Who We Are
We are from Laurens County, Georgia. We are not a large organization — we are a community of neighbors who believe that loving the person next to you is not optional. It is the thing.
Founded in 2018, Widows Oil Ministry exists to love our neighbors like Jesus — wherever they are, whenever they need us, however that love needs to show up. We bring what we have. We watch God make it enough.
The Story of the Oil
— 2 Kings 4:1-7In 2 Kings 4, a widow came to Elisha with almost nothing. A small jar of oil. A debt that was about to take her children. He told her: gather every vessel you can find, and pour.
She poured. The oil did not stop until the last vessel was full. Her debt was paid. Her family was safe. The limit was never in what God could give. Only in how many vessels she gathered.
That is our story. We gather the littles — food, furniture, a coat, a few hours of someone's time — and we pour. God makes it enough. He always has. We are always looking for more vessels. There is always more to pour.
Pamela Otts
Founder & Executive Director
Pamela Otts started this ministry in 2018 because she could not read "love your neighbor" one more time and keep pretending it was a suggestion. She is a former paramedic, a woman of deep faith, and someone who has seen enough of life to know the difference between caring about people and actually showing up for them. Those are not the same thing.
Her approach is simple: show up, pour out, trust God with the rest. She will tell you she is just doing what anyone ought to do. The hundreds of families served say otherwise. So does her email address: nextrightthing.
Our Values
Neighbor Love
Not as a program. Not as a charity initiative. As a calling. We show up because Jesus said to, and because our neighbors are right here.
Faith in Action
We bring what we have and trust God with what happens next. Every time, it has been enough. Sometimes it has been far more than enough.
Community Partnership
We cannot do this alone. None of us can. We were not designed to. We gather whoever will come — individuals, churches, businesses — and when we pour together, the oil does not run out.
Dignity Always
Every person we serve is made in the image of God. Full stop. We do not ask people to earn it, explain it, or prove it. We just treat them like it is true — because it is.
Local Roots
We are from Laurens County. We know our neighbors by name. That is not nothing. That is everything.
Faithful Stewardship
When someone gives their money or their time to this ministry, they are trusting us with something real. We feel that. We do not take it lightly. Not ever.
